Law Enforcement, Do we need a thick blue line?

I decided to write this post after it came to my attention a law enforcement officer shot and killed a 6 year old boy holding a bright neon green water pistol. This is rather quite frightening to say the least. I took a deeper look into this story and discovered that the officer who fired the fatal shots was placed on administrative leave for a few weeks with no pay and is back on duty today. He was never tested for being under the influence of any substances but he knowingly shot a kid with a GREEN WATER PISTOL? How do you justify shooting a 6 year old? My explanation for this is drugs and I’m sure the officer would deny that but cops are not above drug use they are above the law however.

The Unions that back police have it negotiated into police contracts that the officer in question for a shooting cannot be drug tested after an incident and he can only be tested for random marijuana tests and only if he is accused of using it. The Union also has this remarkable ability to just make things disappear. I mean if I went out and blasted a kid sober who had a water pistol and claimed self defense a Jury would have me fried for that. A cop shoots a kid and then is reviewed by cops and backed by the union never see’s a jury or a jail cell. How far are we going to let the Gestapo go? They more and more are becoming like Nazis with no limits on power they do what they want when they want. Why? Because they have a badge and a gun. It seems even the most corrupt of cops get a better reputation than a civilian because again they have a badge and a gun. How can you allow this guy back on the streets with live ammo and let him make arrests and testify against people? He shot a kid in cold blood or while high. I’m fairly disgusted by this if you couldn’t tell. I am in general by law enforcement but this peaks my anger. When I calm down a bit I will add more to this.
