Joran Van Der Sloot, 28, has been sentenced to 28 years behind bars for the murder of 21 year-old Stephany Flores, whose body was discovered in his hotel room in Peru in June 2010.
Later on, Sloot may also face extradition to the US in connection with the disapperance of Natalee Ann Holloway. In 2005, the then 24 year-old was arrested on the Dutch Caribbean island on suspicion of murdering Natalee Ann Holloway, but was later released for lack of conclusive evidence.
Apparently, Stephany Flores and Van Der Sloot were playing online poker in his hotel room when she discovered his connection with Ms Holloway’s earlier disappearance. Van Der Sloot then strangled Ms Flores in a psychological fit of rage, before fleeing Peru with $200 of her money and credit cards. Source: Fox News
I think everyone must remember the long news coverage of the disappearance of American Student Natalee Holloway. After she vanished from her high school graduation party in Aruba the investigation that followed really didn’t gain much traction except they did start to point fingers at the slippery Joran Van der Sloot. Joran was never charged with a crime relating to her disappearance because there was not enough evidence to do so.
However in a new turn of events Joran is now a fugitive and prime suspect in a new homicide case. Stephany Flores, 21, was found dead in her hotel room in Peru on Monday. The police and homicide teams strongly believe that due to the evidence found in the room that Joran, a dutch citizen, is responsible for the murder. Joran has fled from Peru and into neighboring Chile which certainly doesn’t make him look innocent. Peru has said that it will make use of international treaties to catch Joran and bring him to justice. Hopefully his eventual capture leads to a confession or a truthful explanation as to what happened to Natalee.

El finalmente va a pagar sus culpas en la carcel, 28 años de carcel le otorgo la justicia en mi pais, pero yo creo que debieron darle cadena perpetua, por ser un maldito asesino que nunca respeto y nunca va a respetar la vida de otras personas, stephany flores y nataly holloway Rest in peace, saludos desde lima, peru..
I do agree that he should serve life in prison but 28 years in prison is justice for the crimes. He is a waste of a human body though. Thank you for the comment
