WikiLeaks Founder Wanted For Rape, Conspiracy?

*Update September 1st 2010* The prosecutors office in Sweden has reopened their investigation into Julian Assange for rape saying that there is enough reason to believe a crime was committed; how much did the CIA pay this time?. Confirmation HERE *End Update*

*Previous Update* The prosecutor who confirmed the charges has now rescinded them. The prosecutor has said the charges are unfounded. “Chief Prosecutor Eva Finné has come to the decision that Julian Assange is not suspected of rape.” The damage is already done however as literally hundreds of thousands of articles are going up about his alleged rape along with him being the top trending tweet. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is supposedly a wanted man. Swedish tabloid Expressen published a report that he was wanted for suspicion of rape and molestation and Sweden’s prosecutor confirmed it. The warrant was issued late on Friday, said Karin Rosander, communications head at Sweden’s prosecutors’ office. Since then the Swede’s have been trying to contact Assange but he has be unreachable.

I’m not sure how he is eluding the police while he is tweeting saying “the charges are baseless” and that the allegations are “deeply disturbing”. He also hinted at the fact that he is being set up by someone who wants him to disappear. He tweeted saying “we were warned to expect dirty tricks”, it wouldn’t be shocking if the allegations were just a set up. Mr Assange is Americas public enemy number one ever since releasing about 90,000 classified documents on the war in Afghanistan.

There are currently two charges pending against Assange from two different people. The Swedish prosecutor would only say that the allegations are of rape and molestation. Assange was in Sweden to apply for a publishing certificate to make sure the website, which has servers in Sweden, can take full advantage of Swedish laws protecting whistle-blowers.

It really comes as no surprise to me that he is being accused of the two most derogatory and career ruining things right after a major intelligence leak. I personally don’t like the man however I do not feel he’s a rapist or molester. I can see some woman he had sex with spot dollar signs and start screaming rape to whomever will listen like the tabloids. Now don’t get me wrong if he raped or molested anyone I will be the first person calling for his execution but it just does not seem likely. What do you think?
