“Pastor” Burns The Koran And Kills Innocents
A crazy South Florida “Pastor” decided that it would be a wise idea to burn the Koran even after massive international outcry at the idea. Members of Congress and military leaders all said that the burning of the Islamic holy book would cost people their lives and now it has. Pastor Terry Jones who operates a church of around 30 people burnt a Koran at his church while a member of the French press was in attendance. The story soon went worldwide. While technology is sparse in Afghanistan the news still trickled in about the disgusting display and the people are furious. President Obama has lashed out at the attacks that are sweeping Afghanistan in response to the burning however he has not condemned Pastor Jones.
Back in September Jones had decided against burning the book that he ties to terrorist activities due to international rage. Military officials as high as General Petraus, commander of forces in Afghanistan, had spoken out about what he had planned to do as well. Since that cry for attention he has been under surveillance by local police and federal authorities yet the Obama administration and the military seemed unaware of the March 20th book burning. U.S. media largely ignored this most recent event until UN buildings in Afghanistan started blowing up.
An enraged mob in Northern Afghanistan had shown up outside a UN compound to denounce Terry Jones and his crazy “church” but it quickly turned into a chaotic and violent event. At least 7 foreign UN workers were killed in the initial attack on the compound and 4 protesters were killed. The building was eventually set on fire by protesters that had slipped past security guards and the compounds high exterior walls. The Taliban issued a statement that blamed U.S. rules for the book burning.
I personally wouldn’t mind if Terry Jones and all of his cult like followers drank the Kool-aid if you know what I mean. They don’t deserve the freedoms that they’re provided by the Constitution when they’re putting American lives at risk abroad. I feel that Jones and his “Church” should be held responsible by the governments of those killed including Nepal, Sweden, Romania and Norway. I feel that the international community should be calling for his head like the U.S. is for Julian Assange. The only difference in this case is Terry Jones has actually cost innocent lives whereas Assange has not. I don’t like the Constitution being infringed upon but so many people abuse the 1st Amendment right. If Jones can burn the Koran as freedom of expression then can I burn down his church and claim freedom of expression?
