Osama Bin Laden Is Dead!

After a long search for the mastermind of the September 11th terrorist attacks justice has been served. President Obama has just announced that he gave the order earlier today to bring Osama to justice. The special forces team on the ground was engaged in a firefight and Osama was killed. The mission was carried out within Pakistan near Islamabad. Osama was reportedly gunned down in his mansion by U.S. Navy Seals and Delta Force. While the war on terror is not over this certainly ends a very long chapter.

This is truly a remarkable event. Granted it took a decade to kill the man who launched the worst terrorist attack in American history but at least it is done and this extremist is no longer breathing. It does make one wonder that perhaps we could have killed this bastard sooner had Bush stayed focus on the real threat instead of spending years and hundreds of billions of dollars in Iraq. Course we have been looking high and low for this monster in every cave network our troops stumbled across. Turns out we should have been going door to door in wealthy neighborhoods examining every McMansion throughout Pakistan.

The most prominent face of terror in America and beyond, Osama Bin Laden, has been killed in Pakistan, U.S. officials said Sunday night. Bin Laden was the leader of al Qaeda, the terrorist network behind the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. U.S. officials said that their forces have the body of bin Laden. The enormity of the destruction — the World Trade Center’s towers devastated by two hijacked airplanes, the Pentagon partially destroyed by a third hijacked jetliner, a fourth flight crashed in rural Pennsylvania, and more than 3,000 people killed — gave bin Laden a global presence. And in my opinion Obama will need this boost of confidence to get reelected. But then again the Republicans could put up Mitt Romney or someone similar – my left shoe could win against Romney and it has a hole in the bottom.

I voted for Obama and even though I openly admit that I am far from hopeful and don't agree with quite a few thing he has done and wish he did many things differently or did something at all but I do believe he has better for this country than the alternative. And he will most likely be better than the alternative the Republicans put up against him in 2012.

Did anyone watch the Correspondents Dinner? It was exceptional and I strongly recommend everyone look it up and watch it. Seth Meyers was hilarious and Obama himself really reminded me why I originally liked him.

What are your thoughts on how this will effect the situation?

I don't think it will do much in terms of the war or anything. I do think it will help Obama greatly for reelection
