Gov. Rick Perry of Texas’ hard turn the past two days on gay issues, in which he has suggested that gay rights are inconsistent with both American and Christian values, has generated enormous criticism from lesbian and gay organizations and some religious groups, and has even helped split Mr. Perry’s top campaign aides over a new ad.

Mr. Perry’s decision to seize on gay issues appears to be an effort tap into the sentiment that led Iowa voters to remove three Supreme Court justices one year ago after they voted to legalize same-sex marriage. But this year, economic issues — which had initially dominated the focus of Mr. Perry’s campaign — remain the overwhelming concern for voters.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian, but you don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school. As President, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion. And I’ll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage. Faith made America strong. It can make her strong again. I’m Rick Perry and I approve this message.

Rick Perry should have ended his campaign when he couldn’t think of the 3 agencies he wanted to abolish but instead he’s trying to pander to the super conservative Christian groups. He must have expected his message to be so popular that he banned commenting on his own YouTube video but he couldn’t ban the dislike button.

His stupidity has given birth to an awesome new Tumblr page called Rick Perry’s Unpopular Opinions.
