App Review: SwiftKey 3

App Review: SwiftKey 3

When I’m going to pay for an application I always look for a free version and thankfully SwiftKey has one so that I was able to test it out before deciding to spend a few bucks. This review though will be on the full version only since it is what I use daily. The free version has an expiration date anyway. I have very few paid applications on my phone for one reason – most suck. I don’t like spending money for something sight unseen and with a lot of paid applications you don’t get to try before you buy and as a result I stay away....

App Review: GO SMS Pro

Of all the apps that I have downloaded and continue to download on my Android phone there has always been one that continues to outlast any other even when switching ROMs. I send thousands of text messages each month and the messaging app built into Froyo, Gingerbread and ICS were never really worth using for any amount of texting. The lack of a good messaging app built in forced me to quickly track down a replacement and it hasn’t left my home screen in almost 2 years. GO SMS Pro is an app that has been downloaded millions of times from...

App Review: PressReader

Have you ever looked at your newspaper and wished that you could get it just the way it is on your tablet but without the cumbersome paper? If you’ve mumbled that statement under your breath while struggling with your big bulky newspaper then you’ve no doubt tried your local papers’ app and I’ll bet that it just wasn’t up to snuff. I personally have tried a few newspaper apps and they were more hassle than the tangible version and others were not able to pull full content because I wasn’t subscribed to...

The Kindle Fire Sucks

Authors Note – This review is for the original Kindle Fire not the HD series. I got my hands on the Kindle Fire several months ago and I honestly thought it was a winner but since that time I’ve become more and more disgusted with the device and Amazon for putting out such a subpar product. It’s possible that my expectations have been ruined by Apple who at least puts out a dependable product that I’ve used successfully for years but my god has the Fire become a disappointment. They have a good looking product and a decent version...

App Review: Dolphin Browser

As a rooted Android userUnlike Jailbreaking for the iPhone, rooting on Android allows you to change everything about your phone. From versions of android to boot animations you can do it all. I frequently jump from one Android operating system to another for various reasons but the main reason being performance. I’ve often found that through the various iterations of Android that the default browser is straight garbage. The other day I was playing around with Google Chrome on my iPad and that has replaced Safari as my default browser....

App Review: Flipboard

For a period of time Flipboard was my most used app and recently it reclaimed that spot. When I first got my iPad I was obsessed with Flipboard and how awesome the layout was but for some reason the app got slower and the content seemed to be redundant. I do tire of apps pretty quickly but I honestly think Flipboard was struggling there for a bit. When I moved on from my iPhone I honestly never even looked for Flipboard on my Android but when I saw that Flipboard was coming to Android I was oddly excited. Thankfully things are different now....

App Review: Whatsapp

I use this app everyday and if you know me you know that I have unlimited texting so why would I need an alternative texting app? Whatsapp is a reliabe alternative for those of you with limited plans but it also a fantastic way to skip those pesky international fees which is what I use it for. Got a friend who lives abroad and want to send/recieve texts, videos, voice messages and more? Whatsapp is the app that will get it done and it does so efficiently and stylishly. Did I mention that it is 100% ad free? I’ve tried probably a dozen...

HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE Review

Updates August-Thu-2153-2012Ice Cream Sandwich has arrived to my Thunderbolt by way of TeamBAMF who leaked an actual build of ICS that is going to be rolling out to all those still with the Bolt shortly. It’s an actual leak and not a mockup build and the way you can tell is by some of the built in Verizon bloat that wasn’t stripped in an effort to get it out faster. Bloat aside the wait is finally over and it was more than worth the wait with all of the upgrades that come to HTC and Verizon’s original LTE phone. It...

Apple’s iPod Touch 4G: Review

I unboxed the iPod on Christmas and the thing is truly a beautiful piece. It was in Apple’s typical iPod clear case and came with the standard USB connector as well as headphones. Funny how you’re given a thing called a “touch” with a glass screen and chrome back but no cleaning cloth. I’ve had the iPod Touch as well as the iPod Touch 2G and when I picked this thing up it is clearly much thinner and lighter. The first thing you notice when you turn it on is the screen. The screen is beautiful and it’s a...
